Invest in Puglia
Puglia is one of the most dynamic regions in Southern Europe, with a growing economy, thanks to the high levels of active businesses, and an ever-increasing international status.
With over 900 km of coastline and a strategic position at the heart of the Mediterranean basin, Puglia is a key player in the southern European logistics system thanks to a modern transport infrastructure which allows the region to guarantee efficient connections to Europe, the Middle East and much farther afield.

The port system consists of three major ports and six secondary ports, offering a wide range of connections and logistics services, which are managed by two seaport authorities, the Port Network Authority of the Southern Adriatic Sea and the Port Network Authority of the Ionian Sea.
9 Sea ports
3 major ports with different specializations:
- Taranto (transhipment container hub)
- Bari (passenger and cargo shipping)
- Brindisi (passenger and cargo shipping)
6 minor ports (industrial and/or fishing ports)
4 Airports
The regional airport network consists of four highly specialised airports, including two international airports in Bari and Brindisi. Both airports represent strategic hubs for air cargo, with intermodal connections to the nearby seaports in Bari and Brindisi, specialised in passenger and container traffic (RO -RO dry and liquid bulk), as well as to Bari Interport, a modern logistics infrastructure, handling freight traffic via road and railway, directed to and from northern Europe.
- Bari Karol Wojtyla (strategic airport, open to international passenger and cargo traffic)
- Brindisi Salento airport (international traffic)
- Foggia Gino Lisa (regional airport)
- Taranto-Grottaglie (industrial cargo airport, serving the neighboring Leonardo manufacturing plant; recently adopted as an airport test-bed for remotely piloted aircraft and designated as Italy’s first and only spaceport for suborbital flights)
The Taranto-Grottaglie airport serves as a key regional hub, primarily handling cargo for Leonardo Group's Boeing 787 fuselage manufacturing facility. Current infrastructure investments are expanding its capabilities to include a temperature-controlled logistics center, a testing facility for remotely piloted aircraft (the only one of its kind in Southern Europe), and Italy's first spaceport for suborbital commercial flights and space research.
